POLKAWAR INTEGRATE CHAINLINK VRF TO CUSTOMIZE THE APPEARANCE OF ITEMS FOR NFT AIRDROP CAMPAIGN
POLKAWAR are excited to announce our NFT Airdrop Contract integration of Chainlink’s Verifiable Randomness Function (VRF) — a decentralized oracle service from Chainlink that provides smart contracts with a verifiable source of on-chain randomness. By integrating Chainlink VRF, all airdrop participants will spin random items, ensuring fairness and transparency for players. This item can be a weapon or equipment at level 1, and will be used in the game when PolkaWar launches mainnet in Q4.

HOW CHAINLINK POLKAWAR NFTS WILL UTILIZE VRF
While NFT-backed items offer many benefits, such as provable ownership and ease of exchange for real-world value, we wanted to bring about a more dynamic user experience by allowing players the opportunity to individualize their Chainlink PolkaWar NFTs.
Initially, the system will initialize all 10 items for users to participate in the airdrop program. Items include: Sword, Big Knife, Tessen, Bow & Arrow, Gun, Sceptre, Magic Vase, Armor, Helmet, Wing. All information about Name, Image, Index, etc. is stored on blockchain through IPFS so it cannot be edited and changed.
By using ChainLink VRF, users will receive items from the system’s random selection process. This ensures fairness, and there is no arrangement or fraud on the part of the project.
Chainlink’s VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. A valid cryptographic proof cannot be generated unless the process remains tamper-proof, and PolkaWar will not accept the random number supplied by Chainlink VRF without a valid cryptographic proof. As such, users get strong and verifiable assurances that the randomness was fairly generated without interference from any third party — including the oracles and us, the developers.
We’re thrilled to be able to deploy this transparent, tamper-proof source of entropy to further augment the user experience within PolkaWar. We look forward to exploring more ways to integrate Chainlink VRF in the future, such as to character’s experience stats, HP and MP stats…
